How to approach a job interview!

How to approach a job interview!

It is important to have the right approach to an interview. A good approach can give a cutting edge to your preparation. The key to the right approach for a job interview is in learning more about the company as well as being positive and sounding confident.

Do some extensive research about the company you are seeking a job in. Go through their website thoroughly. It is through the website that you get answers for some questions which you will be asked in the interview. Likewise, go through the job description and identify the areas where you stand out. Always be ready with answers to questions like why you think you are suited for the job. Arm yourself for questions related to areas in which you have no prior experience. If your answer requires a presentation make sure you are prepared for it. If you are ready with all of these, you have the right approach for the interview.

Let’s take the example of Tim Robinson, who was called for an interview for the position of a financial editor of an online portal. A confident Tim did not go through the site of the company. The first question he was asked was on ways to improve the financial section of the portal. Tim had no answer to this. All his experience and knowledge, for once, proved to be of no use. His approach cost him a lucrative job.

An interview call will always make you nervous. As the time approaches you begin to feel more nervous. However, the right preparation as mentioned above can help a lot undo your nervousness. You then feel confident about a lot of aspects, but not all. What about those questions to which you do not have the right answer or may be an impressive answer. The thought of this may make you nervous. The best way to beat down such nervousness about questions you are unsure off is by being honest. Tell them bluntly but lace your answer with positive vibes “I have no idea about it, but I am a quick learner and can pick it up fast”.

In gist, the best way to approach an interview is to prepare well and be honest with your answers.
