What are the basic characteristics of ecological agriculture system?

The ecological agriculture system is a kind of artificial ecological system. The ecological agriculture system has its very own idiosyncratic characteristics. These characteristics are adjusting measures in the light of local conditions, comprehensiveness, stability, sociality and selectivity.

1. Adjust Measures in the Light of Local Conditions

Compare to other sectors of national economy, the agriculture has the biggest difference. And this difference is that, agriculture is a very important category which intersects the natural reproduction process and the economical reproduction process. Crops cultivated by the farming, domestic animals raised by the stock farming, trees planted by the forestry, and fish bred by the aquaculture are all living beings and their own growth rhythms which are limited by natural condition. Therefore, the agriculture, this production department, is especially particular about respecting the law of nature and the social economic developing law. Different area or region possesses the different natural environment conditions.

2. Comprehensiveness

There are four meanings of the comprehensiveness so-called by us.

Firstly, the ecological agriculture system is a syntheses which includes multiple-factors and multilevel, so the structures and functions of the ecological agriculture system are extremely complex, not only the production contents and diverse agricultural measures, but also the relationship between the natural conditions and the artificial activities. So we should take it in as a whole and consider things from every angle.

Secondly, the agricultural production measures and agricultural technical measures should be considered synthetically.

Thirdly, improving the product development and the ecological status should be considered synthetically.

Fourthly, the development of agriculture cannot be only considered as one part of the agriculture, but must be considered the connection with the processing industry, the transportation condition, the market demand and the competitive power as well.

3. Stability

The stability of the ecological agriculture system means that the production of ecosystem is insusceptible to the external factors, in addition to this meanings, the stability also includes two meanings which are the dynamic stability between nutritive material and energy balance and the steady growth of ecosystem production.

How to guarantee the stability of ecological agriculture system? Generally speaking, the stability of ecological agriculture system mainly depends on the system structure of the ecosystem and the amount and the length of food in the ecosystem. The more complicated system structure and the more food chains, the more stable ecological agriculture system is.

4. Sociality and selectivity

Ecological agriculture system is a “society & economy & nature” harmonic ecosystem which formed under artificial activities. This ecosystem is extremely special and fragile. If misgoverning, this ecosystem will go to break.
